Green Claims Checker FAQs

Everything you need to know about the Green Claims Checker tool

What is the Green Claims Checker?
The Green Claims Checker scans your copy for greenwashing in real time during campaign and product development — cutting legal review cycles, reducing the risk of fines or takedowns, and empowering bolder sustainability marketing.

How do I access the beta Green Claims Checker?

The Green Claims Checker is currently in beta and is being tested with a small number of users. It can be accessed from within your existing Provenance account. If you're part of the beta, log in here, and find the beta tool in the left hand menu under 'Green Claims Checker'.

How do I use the tool?

The tool is currently being tested with text only. Simply enter, or copy and paste, your text into the tool and click 'Check content'.

What kind of content can I check?
Be creative! The checker can review product descriptions, marketing copy, social media posts and more.

How long does it take to get my results?

Your results will be displayed within around 30 seconds.

How much text can I run through the tool?

You can enter up to 15,000 characters at a time, equivalent to roughly 2,400 - 2,600 words.

How is the risk level calculated?

The Green Claims Checker applies the Provenance Framework — a trusted, regulation-aligned data model shaped with expert input. It aligns with global regulatory requirements including those of the CMA, ASA, EU Green Claims Directive, FTC, and ACCC, and is updated as guidance evolves.

How can I use the results?
The tool is designed to help you understand where your copy may carry greenwashing risk. The results will include the risk level for each sustainability claim, the reasoning behind each flagged issue, and a recommended action to address the risk.

Does this replace legal review?
No — legal still has final sign-off. The Green Claims Checker reduces repetitive early-stage queries so legal can focus on what matters most.

How do I share my feedback?
If you’re enrolled in the beta, you’ll be invited to share your feedback on a short call with the Provenance Team. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out at community@provenance.org.
