Understanding the evidence requirements

You have pre-selected your Proof Points, now it's time to narrow down your selection. Here are a few tips to help you.

Review in more details the evidence that is required for each Proof Point you have identified

Once you’ve pre-selected your Proof Points using the Framework, review the additional information and evidence required for each Proof Point via this Knowledge Hub. Articles include some evidence templates and completed examples. They will help you understand whether you meet the necessary criteria and hold the right evidence to claim a Proof Point.

Confirm that you will be able to claim the Proof Point, based on the evidence requirements.

  • Example: our Widely/Partly Recyclable Packaging Proof Points are only applicable to packaging which is curbside recyclable; Terracycle programs don't qualify.

Claims and certifications have different evidence requirements. To evidence a certification please upload a copy of your certificate. To evidence a claim we'll ask you for a document that can strongly corroborate or prove that what you are saying is true.

Determine the timeline to complete the evidence required for each Proof Point you have identified

You may be working towards a particular Proof Point, and may not have the evidence available today. If this is the case, you can always keep this Proof Point in mind to add later.

  • Example: your brand is working towards B Corp certification but this will take a few months to complete. You can always add this Proof Point at a later date.

Some Proof Points will be quicker than others to evidence

If you still need to reduce your initial Proof Points selection, you may also want to consider the effort that will be required to evidence each Proof Point.

Some Proof Points will be extremely quick and easy to set up and evidence. For example, most certification-based Proof Points will only require a few steps to verify.

Other Proof Points can require a little bit more time. For example, Proof Points such as Partly/Widely Recyclable Packaging that require filing a Statement of Assurance, may require more effort.

If you have limited time to evidence your Proof Points, look for quick wins such as certifications and information (such as lab reports and INCI lists) that you have available already.
